Default Need help with Wing Controller Module

Hi everyone,

I've been having trouble with my wing ever since I bought my car. It is usually stuck in the up position all the time but occasionally it seems to function correctly, it goes down at a stop and goes up at highway speed. Sometimes it gets stuck in the down position and sometimes in the up position. I looked at the controller board and couldn't find any obvious problems. Would someone mind putting my controller in their car for a bit and reporting back if their wing stopped working? I would pay for shipping to you and include a return label for you to send it back. If anyone can help me out I would very much appreciate it.

I just replaced mine with a used unit I bought off eBy for $75. I replaced it because I couldn't get the original one fixed. I spent quite a bit of time analyzing mine and replacing the transistors. I'm convinced that the retracting relay was burned because it stuck in the up position. However, I couldn't source a replacement relay. The replacement unit from eBAy was an instant fix.

I have an 89 C4 and would be happy to test yours if it's compatible.

I could also open the case to see if it might be corroded relays, if you want. If it's working intermittently, it might just be corroded relays. You could check this yourself if you care to. Search for my post regarding my controller and you'll find some pics indicating the two relays, which are located next to each other on the pin end of the board, on the corner. The relays are little copper wire coils inside a bracket, with the small contacts on arms located on the inboard side of the relays. You could clean them by slipping some VERY fine sandpaper between the contacts and wiggling it around a little.

PM me if you want some help.
