Default Pagid's Blue/Orange/Yellow

I have a 91 C2 with 4 pot rears. Which color Pagid for aggressive street driving and 3-4 track days per year? I use Orange on the 73 and like them, but they require some heat to really work well. The 964 also has a larger pad area, so another color may make better sense for the 964. Thanks for your suggestions.

wouldn't use the yellows on the street - they are an endurance race pad. Low friction when cold and will make a lot of noise. Same with the Orange - need more heat than can come from street driving to make them work.

I suggest a set of street pads for the street and track pads for the track. Doesn't take much to swap them in and out.

Orange(RS4-4) is an old technology and really has no place on a car these days
for mostly street and occasional track Blue(RS-4-2-1) the RS 4-2-1 is often called sport , S-line or CS pads,

there are also 2 blue race pads RS4-2 or RS-5 that are somewhat more track oriented than the RS4-2-1

many of use use yellow RS19 or 29 for dual use but if you don't like orange on the street you won't like the yellows, if you are ok w/ orange on the street you will love either of the yellows

Standard textar pads for me on the road and am now using Hawk Blues for the track. I got the recommendation for the Hawks from this board and am very impressed with them so far. They offer Pagid levels of performance at a much lower price. But watch out for the dust because it bakes on to the wheels.

Just my experience, but I would not use any Pagid on the street and am thinking about other pads for the race car after my stock of pads is gone.

The yellow and most definitly orange will leave deposit on the rotor that will lead to shudder (chatter). My wife's C2 had shudder with the Pagid blue sport street pads. I switched her to Hawk track pads for DE and switched to Hawk street pads eventhough the few days she drove the car with the track pads on the street, she said there was no noise (surprise to me). Also the rotors were cleaned off and the shudder is gone.

Here is where I came out on this one:

Pagid RS29 (Yellows) for the track and then switch back to
OEM Textar pads for the road

I have been tracking my car with the OEM Textar pads ever since I installed the "big reds" and they were a good combo for street/track. I am now upgrading to the R29 Yellows as they will provide a little more "bite" and better wear characteristics and I can use their true capability with my R compound tires. I've had the Yellows before and they squealed like pigs on the street and were not reliable for emergency stops when cold. I would never use them for street driving again.

I initially looked like Pagid Blues but they wear too quickly on the track.

I use RS29 on the road & track.

The 'reduced braking on the road when cold' is very minimal ... maybe 3% difference and definately not a safety concern to me.

The only downside is the noise but that does not worry me.

Thank's for the input guys. I agree with swapping the pads. I will keep the Textars for the street and install the Hawks for the track. Which Hawk Blue's, the 9012 or the MT-4?

I cut the sensors off the pads over the weekend, and practised getting the pads in and out. Really easy when using needle nose vise grips and a long screwdriver. Getting that spring on and off was the challenge, the rest is a piece of cake.

Thx

9012. The Hawk part number for our cars is HB170-Blue- .650. I got mine from HERE

To get the spring back on the caliper I use a chunky 6 inch long piece of wood and press down and in. With the right force it just slides over the spring plate and clicks in to place.

Perfecto, yes, 4 pots. Thanks Boxey

I got the call yesterday that my KWV3 coil overs are in. Picking them up in a couple of hours, also my new set of Hankooks arrived so everything is coming together nicely. Now all I need is some alone time in the garage....

Enjoy the weekend all...

Great advice here. OEM for street and Yellows for track.

Uhm, er, I think you will like the Yellows a whole lot more than any Hawk.....

Craig,

Can you match the price of the Hawks? Looks like $128 a set. I'd be interested if you could.

Thanks
