Default Interesting FS 964 on CL...no affiliation

Interesting car worth checking out given the appearance, mods and price. Don't know anything about it...just posting it as a service. I'm in NJ...car is in CA

it looks rough to me via the pics. Maybe a good beater track car.

I don't think it looks too bad. Just needs some thorough cleaning and polishing thats all. Seems like a great deal if the PPI came out clean. Didn't notice the mileage however!

In the picture of the dash, it looks like the mileage is around 115,000. I think the price is right. It will need a respray and a thorough detailing. I think in the end, you'd have close to $25,000 in it, which is about right for a 964. A little high on miles, though.

Yeah, looked to me like either 216K or 218K.
Looks like he either had a dog(s), or hauled building materials in it.
He's down at the price point where you start to see just about anything.
There have been a lot cleaner examples with lower miles in that same price range, that have shown up in the last few months.
This one hasn't got much going for it, just a few interesting bits on a tired old puppy.

The interior does look like my spaniel spent a considerable amount of time inside. Love the color though.

I'm almost positive that was the old Schatz Motorsport (a.k.a. Mike Schatz) 964 development car. Schatz were an FVD dealer.
Mike has since moved on to Kundensport (co-owned by Hans Lapine, son of Tony Lapine -google them if you don't recognize the name) - for interested parties, I'm sure you can give Mike a call and he'll tell you all about the car, at least during the time Schatz owned it.

This sounds consistent with what the owner told me. I considered buying this car, but the mileage put me off (yes, over 200K miles). Supposedly, everything has been rebuilt/replaced on the car, including the engine. If this is the case, it might be worth considering. A thorough PPI and test drive might convince someone to purchase. Given the location, a test drive wasn't feasible/worth the effort for me.

Ken D I think you're right, this looks exactly like Schatz' project 964 right down to the license plate frame. I had that Schatz webpage bookmarked but it disappeared a while back. Strange that the rear seats are ruffled leather but fronts appear to be normal leather.

I spoke with Randall, the current owner and he confirmed it is Mike's old car (purchased 5 years ago...where does the time go??).
Mike is very well regarded in the Porsche world, anyone interested in the car's history should not hesitate to give him a call.
