Default a little help please

Decided to replace dist caps & rotors and primary went fine but screwed up tagging the location of the secondary ign wires. Any way to trace what goes where.
I also tried staring the car using just the primary distributor (disconnected the secondary)....didn't start.

I tried guessing a few times with nothing but rough & backfires.

Thanks much

It is wrong then on your primary, too.

It should start and idle on the primary alone.

Once you get that right then you can figure out from there the secondary wires.

Just put it to Z1 pull the caps off line secondary 1 firing with correct wire and follow the sequence from there.

1-6-2-4-3-5

which is also explained on the firing order sticker under the engine cover.

If you are using Bosch caps and Beru wires, they have the #'s stamped and printed, just match them up and you are good to go.

Man-o-man, not an easy project...no room, too many wires & crammed into an area that's nearly impossible to work on......gotta love these cars and I have a new understanding of high labour costs.

That last post, and the one elsewhere about '15-minute job my ***...' ought to be printed on a prominent label on every 964 owner's tool kit.

:-)

Don't let my wife see or hear that. So many of my projects have gone that way that when she asks me how long I'm going to be working on the car (so she can plan dinner, etc.), she already gives me a "15-minute job? My ***!" look. I wouldn't want her to start saying it.
