Default Some 964 Cabriolet Questions

Hey guys,

I've been tossing around the idea of getting a 964 cabriolet as a project car for a while now. I know a lot of guys who restore muscle cars and that's never really interested me. I know the 964 hasn't quite reached classic status yet but I like the fact that it blends classic Porsche styling with some modern updates. I'd like to buy it and work on restoring it to the best condition as possible. It would be something that I would only drive when the weather is good and I can cruise with the top down. I just have a few questions.

1. I really like the tubro look cabriolet but I have no idea how rare or expensive these cars are. Could someone fill me in on this?

2. Could the wide body fenders and other pieces be added to a normal C2 cabriolet or would this be sacralige?

Thanks

There were 702 Turbo Look Cabs built, but they are out there I have come across one or two in the last year.

A NB cab production C2 11,013 C4 4,802

sacralige? no not as much as it would be a lot of money to do correctly:

All the widebody body parts, suspension, brakes, wheels etc and it will never be worth as much as unmolested car or a real widebody.

Thanks guys. That price range really isn't too bad.

Anyone know of one that is for sale?

Check around for an "America Roadster" 964... it is a factory widebody 965 with a cabriolet top but with the 964 naturaly aspirated motor. Not too many around but I found one last year and am loving it! Good luck with your search.

i think the real number of wtl (turbolook cabs) is globally 1100, of which +/- 250 were imported by
pna & branded america roadsters.

my former car (& i can give you background) is now for sale at victory motorsports (or they are perhaps brokering it on behalf of reseller that bought it).
its priced high imo.

from a drivers perspective.....the oversized brakes/wheels/suspension set up gives the car quite a different feel from a narrow body cab (i drove both along with a 930 before settling on the wtl cab).

good luck
