In my 964 stopped working slow speed of oil cooler fan.
I did a test of 30-87 and 30c-87c and proved that resistor is not ok.
Tomorrow I will order new parts.
Of course, you would use the method Laker!
I dont know why, but i am very afraid of this repair.
So on Tuesday I plan to remove the old resistor. Work planned for the evening, after returning from my regular job and spending time with my family. P-car job, it will be a kind of relaxation!
On Wednesday I'm going to install a new resistor, because the supply of parts will be on Wednesday morning.

Hi all ... I've removed the two resistors (oil and air con) as I'm respraying the front bumper etc.. they look ok compared to many pics I've seen but can I test them with a multi-meter if I have them out? APologies if this is an idiotic question .. my knowledge of electronic fairy dust is very limited!

You talking about the 2 ballast resistors? Bergville / Torre site has a procedure on how to test the resistor, but needs to be in the car. You pull the relay and jump the plug on the 2 connections. If fans run high and low resistor is fine.

Thanks for the reference Spyerx.
You can use an ohmmeter and test the resistor. You should read the value printed on the resistor, about 0.5 Ohm.
Cheers,
Tore

Tore I think you mean .45 Ohm right?

The aircon one reads 2.5 so that's way toast
.. the Oil cooler side 0.9 so ... order placed for both

interesting that while there is a small crack in the top of one, and a bit of crumbling below on the other, neither look toasted but clearly they're way out of spec.
