Radio? I have a Fabspeed dual outlet exhaust, I would rather hear that than the radio (besides with that system I cant really hear the radio anyhow). Thanks for the DC auto tip as well..
I appreciate all the answers and am still in the same boat, looks like this needs to be resolved.. Guess I am gonna take the wrench by the handle and see if the wheel fits, will post the answer (need some time with the car down to do this...dont want to set off the airbag)

Ok finally the weather cooperated and I got some time to play...The wheel fits onto the 964 column, No need for the steering column swap, It does help to have the 993/996 airbag clock spring so you can use the horn as the contact system is different on the 993/996
Finally I dont have to look at that 90s wheel ...it made me think I was in a 944 (Not that there's anything wrong with that!!
Thanks for all the help and comments

No the washer did not allow enough turns on the nut so i used a bit of loctite instead,,I could have countersunk the steering wheel to allow the use of the washer but with the loctite and amount of torque applied I dont think its going anywhere...I will check it from time to time...dont want to look like Wile E Coyote with steering wheel in hands, disconnected from shaft!!!
