I bought my 3.2 911 in 2010. I paid for the PPI and also had the head studs checked. All was Ok and it passed with the exception of a few minor oil leaks. I recently did the major service with a friend and got everything up to snuff. For 2010 it was $2k to sort out the "minor issues" which as I understand typical. Granted this did include a few tools I needed.

Thank goodness nothing major has popped up (yet) but I am prepared. Just get ready and don't skimp on the PPI. Cheap insurance.

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ctd/2151699797.html ?

He has it in the Seattle CL too. Hard to see much in the little cell phone pics.
Did he send you better pictures at least?

Price is not bad if it turns out to be a nice car.

He has a nice-looking 993 too, little rich on the price.

You gotta be nuts to even consider buying any P-car w/o an independent PPI. Get serious. A real PPI will run you <$500. What will unseen repairs on a "perfect car" cost? I'm certain that you can all do the math...

I'll break the PPI mantra for this moment.

The dealer knows the independant, you're 1400 miles away, you'll never deal with either again (more then likely) and they know this. There will be an open ended agreement by the independant that they aren't responsible for missing something. You're out $200 for a clean bill of health, or get them to knock off some of the asking price, and work the car over when you get it.

Good luck, buying used is always risky.

I got PPI'd 3 different used cars I was considering and the results told 3 dramatically different stories. It was easy then to make up my mind and choose the car with the cleanest bill of health. At least find another 964 that interests you, get both inspected and choose the better one. What's a few hundred dollars when there are thousands of dollars were of possible headaches and repairs on the line...

Have the car thoroughly inspected. We just purchased a 993 from Eric Sheets that had been repainted. My bodyshop said he's going to have to do it again.
