Anyone heard or 'No5 Garage' in Hounslow?

Thinking about bringing my 964 there to have some work carried out, can anyone give me some feed back about their work?

Thanks

I have a 964-owning friend in Hounslow - he's never mentioned them, but I'll ask if he knows anything.

Brilliant, thanks John. If not I'd love to know his garage in Hounslow.

Ps. Saw the pics from the recent North Wales run... So gutted I couldn't make it!

I used Peter @ No5 a few years ago for a very annoying battery drain on my 996. I thought he was good and if I lived nearby I would definitely use him again. I know of 2 other 964 owners who praise him. Can't hurt to give him a try if you live nearby and see what you think.

Right, I've spoken to my friend (actually the international man of mystery known as The Blue Shadow...) and he tells me that, although he doesn't actually know it, he has heard of it but it's actually in Acton (about six miles from Hounslow) and his Yellow Pages lists it as a Bosch specialist.

For what it's worth, Brian (oops, mustn't blow his cover), I mean the Blue Shadow, is extraordinarily particular about anyone who is allowed even to go anywhere near his 964 and he only ever uses GT One in Chertsey.

There'll be plenty more Runs come the spring - something to look forward to.

Fantastic that seems to be the response to No. 5 Garage, thank for the help!

Thanks for the help, John. Spring is definitely something to look forward to!

i used No 5 last year, they did my PPI and the pre sales service for the vendor garage. Peter is a decent guy and did me a favour by insisting that some faults be dealt with by the vendor garage as part of the service that I hadn't spotted.

not all good though, as he failed to pick up a failed abs modulator unit, which as it goes GT One spotted for me. Peter and the vendor picked up the cost of the replacement part which wasn't cheap and the labour for diagnosis. And did this with no fuss at all.

so a mixed experience, but I was left feeling that Peter was a decent guy, knew these cars well and gave freely of his time and advice on the phone, putting up with a real smart **** of a customer (me) with patience.

I used GT One for this years service as they're easier to get to for me, and No 5 are probably sick of the sight of my car after the tough time they had with the abs problems. The two bosses at GT One know the 964 really well and are happy to talk at length about it.

In truth I'd guess Peter is slightly better value for money than GT One and Peter at No5 did prove to be a "stand up guy" when there was a problem. I'd recommend either to a friend. So give both a call and see who you like the sound of.

Spring?!

Surely there is at least one more chance of a last minute, read - couple of days notice of a run, just not around 17th to 20th of December. I promise to ignore the weather report.....

Thanks for your thorough answer

My car is with Peter at No. 5... So far Peter has been a stand up guy, he seems to really know his stuff as you said - I tested him with Rennlist members solutions to my problems and he happily & accurately concurred.

However I've looked into GT one recently also, they seem to be more suited to my next job.... Cup pipe and G-pipe exhaust set up...

Would I be right in assuming that No. 5 are more suited to every day work than providing a service for specialist upgrades? And that GT one would be a more natural pick for this kind of work?

Certainly no self-proclaimed Porsche shop would have ANY trouble putting a cup & g-pipe on? That's one of those jobs where there's really only 'so much' skill required...

like he said, those are pretty simple jobs, tho hopefully whoever you take it will warn how frickin loud that will be

but yes, i'd say specialist 964 race/trackday setup stuff i'd favour gt one.

when you come to engine rebuilds say, they are so expensive you can search a bit wider. my car had a top end by jz machtech few years back which looked sensible value.
