Hope to make it to one of these some day but for now this is as close as I got, was down in a friends house in Co Wicklow on Sunday and could see the coast of north Wales across the Irish sea.

We tried the ice cream today as we were car shopping in Skipton and my wife, who knows about these things, said it was some of the best shop bought ice cream she has had. I would have recreated your photograph but it wouldn't look right with a Fiat 500 on these pages.

steve , ,here,s one not to far from you for a run out & i,m sure your mrs will approve http://www.theemporiumclitheroe.co.uk/index.asp
ended up there today after a drive over from the fylde coast via trough of bowland/chipping/whalley
great atmosphere & choice of food but i opted for a couple of glasses of the rouge & let mrs w take the homeward run , is it ok for spouses to take the wheel occasionally?

Never been to the Emporium as we always seem to be drawn to a cafe further up in a cobbled courtyard or the Olive Press but i highly recommend exploring Byrne's Wine shop and the Cheese Tchaikovsky when in Clitheroe if you haven't already.

If heading out with the intension of eating we tend to migrate towards the Three Fishes or the Red Pump Inn or if better dressed Northcote. More often than not though when the weather was better we'd go to The Sparrowhawk at Fence as we could sit out and also watch the car park.

Regarding spouces. If you drove out it is only fair they drive back........

might just start a " drive out & eat out " post ,not tried the olive press but the sparrowhawk is a great place , its been a regular for years , great out front & only 2/3mins from home , the fencegate close by is good also but if you fancy a great spanish/mexican with the best view in pendle try http://www.thewellsprings.co.uk/
book a window seat , a cruzcampo then the rioja & its happy days-great atmosphere whenever you go
