I don't get it! Why so few cars for sale? There were plenty made. The ones on autotrader never change? There are virtually no 964's on CL or anywhere else. I don't get it!
I am still looking for a low mileage all original paint (not red) C2 and Tip preferred.

If you consider only the C2/C4 in coupe, cab and targa numbers vary depending on who you use as a source. You are looking at roughly 12,500 US units +/-. According to Porsche's info attrition probably accounts for 3200 or so possibly more leaving 9500 more likely less. It is widely used as a track car I have one dedicated just for that use and have no interest in ever selling as do many, then you have those hidden away in garages that people don't do anything with figure 7000 units in either C2/C4 targa, coupe or cab that might trade hands. If you are looking for a specific version C2 coupe/C4 cab your odds of finding one go down even more. Most here that own them have little to no interest in selling especially in this depressed market. So what you are left with is the stuff that has hidden history, nobody wants or is overpriced. This is also not the time to sell. I think you will find early spring there will be more available but as the years go by less and less will be readily available or worth buying.

There has been a coule like new, 128 and 5xx mile ones pop up for all the money. And I have seen some 50-60k mile for high twenty low thirties.

The relative availability seems to wax and wane. Just when I think the *good* ones must be about gone, somebody posts a "look what I found" thread about some low-mile original jewel that somebody's had for 8 or 10 years, and sold it to the happy Rennlister because " I just don't drive it anymore".
I'm thinking the tip might actually help the "low-mile, original" requirement, in a way. You may find one of those "momma's cars" that hung out in a garage and was never driven much by the little woman. Most likely it will be a cab, I'm betting.

If you just type in Porsche 964, you usually don't find anything. You have to be creative. Go to a site like this...
http://craiglook.com/
And type in random combinations, like....
91 911
'91 911
1991 911
1991 Porsche
91 Porsche
And just do this with multiple years. People label craiglists ads very randomly so sometimes it's finding a needle in a haystack.
I found my 964 a month or so ago....it was a very clean white 1993 coupe/5 speed with less than 70K with records. Only a few people had emailed the seller because the title of the ad was... '93 911
Since everyone does searches for stuff like Porsche 964, they all missed it.
I did a few searches for you. Not sure what low miles is to but all of these are around 100K or lower.

Look up member 3blackbirds. I just saw a pic that he posted of a really nice looking black one with RUF wheels and a ducktail. I saw the car at the Hershey swap meet and it looked great. There is a pic on post #66 in the thread titled show your best pic of 2010.

I found mine on The Mart (PCA's online classifieds). In fact, I rejoined PCA specifically to get access to The Mart - both to sell my '77 AND to shop for a 964. Worked great for finding the 964....not so great for selling the '77.

I'd love to move my '73 1/2 zero-rust-from-day-one coupe with real RS flares (yes, it's but a bare shell at the moment). Best I've been seriously offered is ~$5K. Friend has a similar zero-rust '74 coupe that's disassembled as it was going to be a wheel-to-wheel car circa 1995. Zero interest. He's likely going to sell it as another unloved car has popped up to better suit his race car plans--a '76 930 shell that's virgin. Probably picking that up for ~$3K.
