Default Experience with OZ Alleggerita for track.

I am thinking on purchasing of a set of Alleggerita Wheels on 18" for my 964 with 225 front and 255 or 265 rears. Semi slicks and track use only.

The benefits of these wheels in terms of weight and price are obvious and outstanding versus the alternatives in the market which are at least double of the OZ wheel price; ( BBS, Fiske, Rays...)

By the other hand I am concerned about the durability, resistance to impact, rigidity and general performance of this for track use...

Anybody has got some experience with these?

Thanks.

PS: Any other recommended wheels which are not super expensive and are light and strong?

17" Cup II rims are perfect for track use.

Cheaper than the OZ's and furthermore the 17" tires are also cheaper. The Cup II's are light, among the lightest made by or for Porsche cars.

Any negatives with 17" compared to 18" for track day use ? Not really. The track day tires have firmer and stiffer tirewalls and work well.

yes, that's true, but tires on 17" like P-Zero Corsa (205&255) and Michelin Sport Cup (only 255) are out of production

I've sold dozens of sets of the OZ's for track use now, and of them ONE person has bent a wheel. He left the track and hit something that would have bent anything. For their price, reputation, and weight the OZ's can't be beat.

I have in stock in standard colors, so please call me direct to order! Thanks.

Pirelli has discontinued the production of Pzero Corsa and new Trofeo are not available in 17". These were the news from Greco Gomme at Mugello Porsche Club Italia race two weeks ago.

As an alternative, you might consider an extreme performance street tire for both street and track use, like the Bridgestone RE11, or the Yokohama AD08.

That's some bad news. No stock left?

That leaves no option for the 205-17... maybe they'll allow us to use a different size then, makes driving on the road a problem too.

Default Tyre Rack

Damon, thanks for your offer, but considering that I am on the other side of the Atlantic I think I will be better off purchasing the tyres in my Home city, Barcelona to avoid all the transport and duties...

Thanks for your advise on the wheels, happy to hear they are strong enough.
