Default No lights

I started driving home late last night out of the city and after about 20 seconds, the instrument lights flickered and failed. Shortly after, the headlights and tail lights also didn't work. I checked the fuses on the spot and even swapped them out for low beams, but nothing seemed to work. The high beams work okay, but only if I flash them. Any suggestions as to what I could do? This is on an 89 C4.

Sounds like a faulty headlight switch. Are you running higher than stock wattage bulbs? The headlight switches need relays if you are.

Headlight switch or ignition switch.

If you have a multi meter you can check to make sure the switch is working.

It is kind of strange that they all didn't go out at the same time.

Where would I apply the multimeter to? The switch doesn't come off.

Well, I'll be damned. Looked under the dash and all that was wrong was the connector was loose. Looks like I hit one too many potholes and it finally fell out - plugged it back in and the running lights work great. Fogs, too. I love my Porsche <3

What was loose...Headlight switch or ignition switch...I thought that all connectors was Porsche quality with locks and tabs that you have to pry out?

The back of the headlight switch was loose. It's a metal plate with about a half dozen metal prongs on it.

Glad it was something simple (and cheap).
