Default 300,205 mile RSA for sale

No affiliation. Apparently still used as a daily driver.

That's one wishful seller.. $27,500 (but he states to not be afraid of mileage). I like him.

As a general question .... if the car is well maintained (ie presumably with parts regularly replaced) and the engine has been reconditioned, new clutch, maybe a gearbox overhaul etc, why should high mileage drop the price?

I am generally one that supports the buy on condition rather than mileage argument, however 300k miles is a lot. Although so long as the engine had a full rebuild including barrels, pistons, cams etc and the clutch, flywheel, gearbox, suspension, etc are all relatively new then in reality it shouldn`t cause much more in the way of maintenance than a 100k mile car.

Still, at the right price, it could be a good buy for someone.

Because generally people want low milage cars in the belief that they will have less wear and tear on them! And If you personaly are happy to buy a high milage car, you will still face the same attitude from other buyers when you yourself come to sell on the vehicle with even MORE miles on it!! People would just say why should I pay $x for this car, when I can get one with half the milage for the same(ish) price............... result = lower price to make the higher milage car look more attractive!

I am the first person to admit that this is often far from the truth, and I would rather have a well used and maintained car than one which hardly ever turns a wheel which usually results in even more issues!! But you will never get over the 'general' attitude of the car buying public

Yes, likewise. Give me a 300,000 mile car with a brand new engine and I would be happy!

Buying on condition rather than chasis miles is ok but 300k miles is far beyond the norm for "high mileage" 964s! I think the price is very optomistic.

Yeh, would be a good basis for a track car, as it's never going to be a collectors piece with that mileage! Needs an owner who will drive it properly - and maitain it accordingly without worrying about the odd stone chip or scratch!!

300,000 miles is a lot. Forget about the engine for a minute, even though it's had 60,000 miles since rebuild, so it's not exactly fresh by any means. There are so many other things that I can think of that could be on their way out - suspension (looks stock!!), bearings, CV joints, HVAC, and countless others. I'd like to see what has been replaced and when. I agree with Greg the price is highly optimistic, especially for a car with all 4 options, which makes it very close to a regular C2.

I really don't get why an RSA is better than a C2. I don't like the "turbo look tail" anyhow.

If I could take a time machine back to 1993 to order a new Porsche it would be an RSA because they could be ordered without air conditioning and sunroof and had M030 and sport seats as standard. Plus they were $10k less than a regular C2. Of course now they command $10k more which I do not get.

For me it's truly the hope that it won't depreciate as much as a regular C2. That being said, I really wanted my play car to have manual steering, and I really love the tea tray but not so much the widebooty. In any case, I'd suggest that this guy would be lucky to get a fraction of the $10k premium over a 300k C2. So like $17,500???

RS Americas are not widebodies ('turbo look').

Very well put.... This + the fact it will be much harder to sell down the line because of the mileage makes this price unrealistic. As others have stated, 300K is a lot of wear and tear on more than just the engine. No one is suggesting this car be scraped, but it will never be more than a good driver with maintinance and should be priced accordingly. More power to him though, perhaps he'll find the right buyer.

I think the seam welding is probably shot at that mileage!
