964 owners usually don't get it. RSA owners do though

And I've got an honest 140K miler that I'll move for low $20's, and have only had two serious, legitimate guys interested. Face it, the market is D-E-A-D on the DIY/project side of things unless it's at giveaway prices. I'm sure many of you have glanced at my for sale thread over on the Member's For Sale Forum. If not, it's worth a laugh or two. Everyone wants low mileage/no track/full records for the asking price of a driver/high miler.

Agreed I've gone through an exhaustive search recently where I was considering everything from longhoods to a 993 TT...having driven them all, I went with my RSA.

Yep, just like everything else...it's a buyer's market right now. A friend of mine thinking of selling his prestine 993 Turbo pulled his add recently because of "low ball" offers. Not too many people looking for expensive toys, and all Porsche's are toys. When new cars are being offered with finance incentives, that's pretty indicative of current trends.

New cars have been offered with incentives (financing by the manufacturer's captive or rebates) since Chrysler threw down first during the '73 oil "crisis." Market is dead because there's no home-as-ATM anymore for purchases like these third, fourth.....seventh cars.

Well, I am very aware of that fact. What I was referring to when I mentioned financing incentives were specifically on new Porsches. Incentives currently come in many forms, not the least of which is the aggressive discounts. Coupled that with the incentive financings offered through Porsche, you have a condition where all cars have shifted in value, from 997’s on down.

As you have alluded, the variety of financing instruments that were available is no longer. People who are buying 15-20+ yr old Porsches need to come with cash these days, and it removes a lot of potential buyers out of this market.

Long and short of it is that anyone who’s selling now is assumed to be a distressed seller, whether that is the case or not.

Go ahead, just throw a hand grenade into the thread and run...

Clearly at 300K miles, all the paint will be crinkled as well

The market can’t be in that bad of shape for 20y/o 911’s. I was just in a battle with another Rennlister for mine just a few months back… If you have a nice car and it isn’t priced in the upper stratosphere for the condition, it’s going to sell. Hell I almost spent $5000 more for a comparable car because of how clean it was…

Who said the motor was rebuilt? It says the motor was "gone through"

Anytime someone tells me half a dozen times in a single ad how nice and new and perfect a car is I get scared. I wouldn't be scared of the mileage with the right records. But something tells me this car hasn't gotten the full monty for service, just average service.

The biggest problem isn't the miles, it's the fact that Champion motors, of all places, performed the engine rebuild and clutch replacement. Yikes.

I was hoping to click on this thread ready to transfer money into the checking account. I personally LOVE well maintained high mileage cars that make great drivers / beaters - but the price is just way too high to even warrant making an offer.
