Unhappy Looking for ABS Control Unit

Just got back from the mechanic today and was told that my ABS Control Unit was shot. Anyone have one for sale? I have a 91 C4.

Hiya, I've had the same problem on mine. The first thing to do is find out whether it's the actual control unit or one of the actuators that feed off it, there are ones for a variety of things: transfer box, diffs etc. You might be lucky as the actuators are quite cheap to replace.

Finding a second hand one is really hard. Apparently there is a condensation problem in the front of the 964 that means the plugs tend to rot, and new ones are probably £2k+ to buy. There is a company in the UK who can recondition them, so there must be one in the US...I'd ask around some of the independent specialists. If you can't find one maybe you can ship it here to get it done. I'd be happy to help...

@ratbag964 - thanks for the quick response. I took it in to the local Porsche dealership and ran several tests to isolate the ABS Control Unit as the culprit. They unfortunately did not have a test unit to swap out to see if that solves the problem.

@Jim - It appears that the C2 and C4 have the same ABS Control Unit. I will email you.

Cheers

Trevor

I stand corrected, there is a difference between the C2 and C4 ABS control unit. The C4 is a 55 pin unit with part # 96461812601.

Has anyone reconditioned an ABS Control Unit or can recommend a place that does?
