I'm about to change the heating hose in the footwell on the left side. But the upper mounting point is so tight so I'm afraid to destroy the hose while trying to force it in place. Then I found this pic from Wachuko/Jamie where he got the hole upper mount/plastic elbow out which makes it a lot easier to mount the hose.
But....it feels like the plastic mount is really stuck but I can't see any screws or clips and from the pic it looks like it just pushed up in the fan housing. Does anyone know? Is just more force and pull straight down or is there any hidden secrets?
It is connected to the bottom of the hvac by tabs. I would say it will be nearly impossible to pull out without loads of work (taking out gas tank and firewall). Wish I had better news. I just had everything apart and it was a bear to put back.
I've tried to PM Wachuko/Jamie who did this work and took the picture but he seems to be offline. I don't think he hade the HVAC out when he did this. OK, I'll try again tonight, but it's a very thight fit and the hose is so fragile so it would have been great to get that plastic mount out, mount the hose and then put it back as a unit.
James: I bought a OEM hose, about 24 USD. They are black now BTW and not orange as the old ones.
I still have a bottom portion of an hvac system. I will try to take a picture and send you how it is connected. There is one push tab in the front and I think 2 in the back. There is a chance it can be done without pulling everything out, but I can tell you that I broke one of those connection pieces. I broke the inner piece (a small insert that supports the tube) on the other one. I actually secured that one with a screw into the bottom of the hvac system just to make sure it did not slip out.
