Default Wong chip with cat bypass and cup pipe impressions

I recently installed the fabspeed cat bypass and also the fabspeed cup pipe along with a steve wong 93 octane chip. I also did a home brew cup airbox mod. First impressions are great, the sound alone is worth the money along with the weight savings. I have never expected much from a chip in a normally aspirated engine but it did wake the car up and got rid of the flat spot I felt below 4k. The chip also got rid of a minor stumble or bog that I had when shifting into second from first on under full throttle.

Overall I am very pleased and I can't wait for the weather to dip below 95 degrees so I can really see what the mods have done since all of my driving before the mods were in 80-85 weather in the day and upper 70's at night.

That's exactly what the Wong chip did to my car, improved the tractability of the car while under 4k. You took a huge chunk of weight off of the back of your car. I bet you can't get over the sound!

thanks for the review. I've read every thread on the Wong chip and I'm going to pick one up soon. The consensus is that it really helps in the sub 4K rev area. My car feels absolutely pokey in second gear below 3K.

Hi all
I have just started my mods today with the fitting of a decat pipe.
I think I am going to go down the G-Pipe route next.
I would eventually like to chip my 1992 C4 and keep hearing about a steve wong chip.
Can I get these in UK and does anyone have a rough idea of price.
Also do I need to have the car mapped along with it and fitted or is it something I can just do in my garage

regards lee

company ships to the UK.....all the info is here, if perf.911 is advised of your modifications, its just a swap of their chip for stock chip (located under drivers seat).
you'll find a post on here dealing with accessing the box/swapping the chip

Not sure if it is a waste of time with the company you just listed as I don't know anything about them good or bad, but I do know about Steve Wong's chip and I recommend them 100%.

.....you might try this question at 964 forum in the UK which is largely populated by owners from the U.K. if you are not already registered there (they are good with response time) & have an active participation

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/porsche964/

(i think you may find they also support the "wong chip")

Note the 500 rpm redline increase. FWIW, I wouldn't do it on my car.

Jason the cost is $375. install is free and takes about 20 minutes of your time. There is TONS of info on this site and the other P car forum we frequent.

FWIW I recently installed one of Steves chips, airmailed to Australia - arrived in about 5 days. Easy install. Really smoothed the car out under 4k, and on butt dyno maybe gave me a bit more urge in that region, and has actually inproved my fuel consumption a bit. There is always lots of "discussion" about the merits or not of these chips but it seems to have performed as advertised.
