200,000 Miles
My car is about to celebrate it's 200,000 mile birthday. I have had my 93 C4 since 2001 and continue to admire the car ever day. It is the only car that I own and therefore I drive it every day, summer, winter, rain, snow, 30 below or 100+.
I am dating again and the funny thing is that the car has become sort of an ancillary measure of core values and perhaps helps me to figure out if the girl will be a good match or not. One date likes the car and thinks its fun and there might be some potential and another says, "wow the car is that old, why don't you sell it while there is still some value and get a new car." When I say that this car (17 years old) is so much better and more fun than most of the cars made today, there is total disbelief and I can tell the date may not last. So how weird is that. My point is that as you all know it becomes part of a life style and how fun is that. I am not sure if i will ever sell the car. My daughter has made it clear that if I ever get a new one, she is taking my C4 and that would be great in my minds eye.
I also wonder how many other 964s are over 200,000 miles and are driven everyday. Oh, yes. If anyone knows any single girls out there who appreciate a great 964 let me know, LOL

First, congrats on 200k achievement. Good to know that these cars are capable of these distances (with a turbo no less!). Regarding your system of using your car to gauge a womans interest and mindset, I think that is pretty funny. Kind of like how a person uses his dog to help select a woman, haha.

I was dealing with how women reacted to 15-20 year old 911s when I was dating in the '80s and '90s. The general public's opinion of the cars hasn't really ever changed. The woman who ended up being my wife signed onto an "only" 12 year old one the weekend she moved in, a couple of months before we got married!
Actually right now I'm trying to fix up a friend who really can't find a car guy who is at least gainfully employed and doesn't live with his parents. 28 and has even raced pro in the Koni Grand Am series.

200,000 last summer for me and still going strong.
I also prefer driving alone (probably my weight reduction fetish kickin' in again).
Have also managed to convince other half that cars with the pedals pivoting from the floor are very hard to drive.
Bless her she believes everything I say when it comes to automobiles.
So now I never have to adjust my seat to my original favourite position for driving after she has been in the car, unlike the family vehicle.
Selfishness or brilliance?? Mmmm probably a bit of both.

Nice to know that I am not alone regarding the 200,000 mark. Congrats to all. I think it is a testament to how much we all like our 964s. Past cars i would get tired of after 50,000 and would want another new car. The 964 just keeps giving and of course some times taking but that goes with the territory.
Regarding dating and women, thanks for the advise, and the support. It is a different world out there not having dated for 25 years and my values are a bit different then they were when i was young. It would just be nice to find someone out there who would shares the excitement and fun of taking drives and driving fast in the 964.

Keep it up, Pete. The right woman will take passion in you living your passion.
And vice versa.
Re 964's being a mate-touchstone: Married for the first time a few months back.
Knew she was The One a year ago when she said the car - and my working on the car (?!) - were sexy. (And it's true; she does.)
Who am I to fight such serendipitous concurrence?
Besides, she fits the Recaros *much* better than I do.

Well not quite to that 200k mark but mine is about to hit the 150k mark and is my everyday driver.
I have had many comments on my 964 from women, the funniest was from two sisters in their late teens early twenties;
"I like your car but its so little, so does it get really good gas mileage."
"ah, no but it's fast and fun to drive."
Smiles and they walk away. Oh well, I am in my forties and need to find a little older woman I think.

As someone who has just purchased a 155k mile C4, it's nice to see those with over 200k on theirs!
Can't help you on the girlfriend front. I've been with Julie for some time and don't really know what a single girl is.

Lonnie - Now you are my hero. That sounds like just the way it needs to be. Very cool to all of those who's other half support your passion.
Back to the 964, what a ride and at 200,000 it shows no sign that it wants to give up any distance to anyone or maybe that's just us drivers.

I just got my 1990 C4 with 113k miles. How's the AWD C4 holding up as far as maintenance/cost is concerned especially with high miles on the car?
I'm also curious what type of oil y'all are using. I'm currently using synthetic oil.
