Default Which CTEK charger - 7002 or 3300?

I am looking to purchase a CTEK charger/battery maintainer.

There are two commonly sold, the 7002 ($125) and the 3300 ($70).

http://www.amazon.com/CTEK-Multi-700.../dp/B000FRLO9Y

http://www.amazon.com/CTEK-Multi-Sma.../dp/B000FQBWCY

Is there any reason to get the 7002 charger over the 3300?

Also, for those that have "hard wired" the charger connections to the battery, where did you locate the external plug?

I am using the 3300 and I am very happy with it.
The wires to the battery stick out in the front left corner of the hood.
With normal panel gaps there is sufficient room for the wires.

This way i get as short wires as possible but the as you understand i have to open my hood and tuck the wires inside each time i go for a ride (which is not to often unfortunately)

CTEK XS3600 is what Porsche re-brand and supply themselves.

I also have the 3300, and it works amazingly. I would suggest getting the cigarette lighter attachment. I use this set-up and it has never let me down.

The 3000 series should be perfectly fine for standard lead acid batteries of Porsche amperage so you should be ok with that. But if you are planning for a replacement AGM/gel/dry type battery in the future I would recommend a 7000 or larger charger.
+1 on the cigarette lighter plug suggested by augsburg911.

I have the 3300. Works great when I have my turbo sat in the garage for a week or two at a time not being used.

I run the 3300 on my Optima and a regular Interstate battery without problem.

I have the 3300 model for both cars. Also use the motorcycle mode to charge the battery on my lawn tractor. Work's great!
