Default Friday rain forest...

Seems that way anyway. The area has had rain like 5 of the last 10 days. My grass is very green, and getting very long! I won't have time to cut it tomorrow, as I'll be hitting the back roads of the Wisconsin Dells area with some 10-30 other Porsches. This is our annual spring tour. 2 years ago, we got rained out too, and our flooding hit the national news when a lake broke thru the dam that contained it and washed out a few hourses as it emptied. We had major interstate highways shut down for weeks, and my wife and I drove home in the monsoon showers for 5.5 hrs. Also found out I had a wiring harness only partially plugged in, as I got water in the car from the fresh air vents that wouldn't close properly. Soooooo I'm hoping this ride will be less eventful on the weather front, and more eventful on the driving front.

My daughter turns 4 next week, so we'll try to spend some time together. I have a charity gold outing I'm photographer for on her b-day so she and I will go to breakfast before I have to leave.

What about your plans?

I will be going over my car with a fine toothcomb to clear out all the remaining traces of sanding dust from the respray process. The interior isn't too bad but the hard to reach bits around the edges could use some attention. The engine bay is another matter so that will get a thorough detail so I am expecting lots of cursing and cut hands as I try to get it up to scratch again. Once done the whole car will get a good wash but no wax for another few weeks until the paint has had time to fully cure.

Oh, and I nearly forgot I'll be fitting my new clear indicators and side repeaters that arrived in the post this morning.

Jim, I'd love to make my Cab a WB version... you're an inspiration. Now can you share some of that $$?

Haha, what $$, I don't think there is anything left

I do wonder how the cost of doing the conversion from scratch would compare with what I had to pay to get a badly done conversion put right. Certainly the cost of parts would be much higher due to needing both front and rear bumpers on top of what I had to buy but with all the work that was done to remove and refit the arch extensions it may well have cost less in terms of labour to do a conversion.

I like Jaime's car... and would love to do the same. Especially in black! it's a combination of your car, and his.

My plans revolve around my girlfriend's daughter's high school graduation. This evening is grad party prep (setting up a tent, tables, etc). Tomorrow morning, its get to the school early to save seats on the bleachers, graduation is at 10am-noon. The party starts at 1pm. The weather forecast is spotty. It may rain, it may not. I'm hoping for not.

Sunday, will be prepping/packing for the upcoming PCA DE at Watkins Glen. The car passed its pre-event safety inspection and I have my hotel reservations. I just need to assemble my track tools/snacks/chairs etc. Looking forward to the event.

I dont have any Porsche plans. I did drive the 964 to work today top down. It will be 95 on the way home. We could use some of that rain around here.
My office hasnt shut down yet. They mother company in Puerto Rico had no clue that they couldnt just walk out on FDOT projects without screwing up the other offices in the state. FDOT was not ammused when they found out. I have gotten a couple of calls from companies that want to talk to me so I am going to an interview this afternoon. I am not in any hurry to find a job and havent even looked yet. I want to live off the guberment for 6 months or so after paying into them for the last 40+ years

Jim - I know how you feel but I would at least talk to the folks, if they are interested. They may be less interested in the future. You can always turn down their offer if you don't like it.

My 2 cents.

You mean unemployment benefits are DISincentives to finding work?

If I have time (which I might not) I need to take all the wheels off the turbo to investigate why my brake pad wear light came on twice on Wednesday. I checked the outer brake pads on each wheel and I have at least 5mm on each. I had a similar problem at the start of the year (which definitely was fixed) which means I checked the pads then - so I know the rears were almost new, and the fronts were replaced when the problem was resolved (even though they weren't the cause). That was 4k miles ago, so pretty sure it's another sensor related fault.

Other than that, it might be a completely Porsche free weekend. 964 is booked in for a well overdue safety recall on Friday of next week (postponed from the start of the year due to snow).

How does it work in the US? Over here - if you have any capital (e.g. savings, investments) the government will pay you absolutely zip, regardless of how much you've paid into them. I think the limits are £3k and £6k unless they've changed - less than £3k and they'll pay you, between £3k and £6k and they'll pay you a bit - more than £6k and they're not interested until you've spent all your savings.

On the other hand - if you're allergic to work and have never bothered investing in your future then they'll pay your rent, your 150 channel tv, your can afford to smoke 40 a day etc. etc.

I love our government.....

Hawk, you will be seeing my Black c2 conv. converted this winter to a widebody done the proper way. I need to make more calls and earn some more $$$$.

The turbo conversion and all the little bits has set me back large already. Can't wait to get my car back next week...pics to follow.

Nice project Jeff... I'm afraid it's too pricey for my zero-budget Porsche fund though so I'll live vicariously through you.

I'm going to try to track down a small transmission leak - probably a loose drain plug.
