Taylor is great - he took care of my 993 when he as at ASG. Springfield is a little too far for me these days, but I wouldn't hesitate to trust him with a re-build.
Can you share some info the on the timeline - is there a reason for it taking 6 months?

I will do that, so that the long rebuild time doesn't make him look bad. About 2 months has been due to my deliberations on "while you are in there" options. Also, he has had a busy season, and I think his other customers may be pushier than I. Lastly, he had a family health issue to deal with (I would appreciate that not being discussed) that pretty much put things on hold this fall. It would have been lousy of me to insist that my car should take priority over a family issue. I totally believe in his professional ability and integrity, so I just have to be patient. Believe me, every time I see a 911 on the road I kind of glaze over and yearn to have my 964 back. I look forward to posting the good news as soon as it happens. Cheers.
Thought I would add an image of the spreadsheet I used to help make a decision about the new profile for my cam regrind. A fellow in another engine rebuild thread asked, so I might as well put it out there. I made every effort to ensure the data was correct, but if you see something wrong, please let me know. I also added two statements regarding lift and duration for reference - I don't want to plagiarize but I can't remember where I got them from! You can see the purple-highlighted line as the profile I selected. Note also that I had a hard time pinning down the consensus for the stock spec's.
I hope it is of interest or use!

Reason: updated chart (.050 exhaust duration off by 1 degree!)
Hi Steve, thanks for posting the cam info - what made you decide to go for the 993 SS in the end?
Also, did you stick with standard 964 sized valves or increase to the 993 RS size?
Cheers
Three reasons:
1) One of the mildest "upgrades" you can do since I was not doing head work or intake upgrades.
2) More cam lift than duration oriented, which I believe better suits my interest in improved low-mid range performance.
3) The minimal increase in overlap angle is supposed to avoid development of any idle lumpiness.
Thanks for your interest.

Reason: added 3rd reason
What ever happened with this rebuild???? It just dropped off the face of the forum and we never heard the results....or the final price......
Well, it's done, and I am very satisfied. Thanks for asking - just don't ask why it took so long. I only got it back a couple weeks ago, so I am still whittling away at a complete rundown - photos, parts list, prices, and even a youtube video (for sound). Wanted to do a thorough review, both for myself and for RL. I'll get it done as soon as I can.

How do you like it? What did it cost? Do you think the cam upgrade (I know, you did other upgrades as well) was worth it?
