Lightbulb OBDPlot - new version - testers sought

Some of you may remember the OBDPlot software from a couple of years ago - it's for plotting data from the 964's ECU via the OBD port.

At that time I had a persistent problem (also reported by others) where the application would lose connection to the ECU after a short while. It was hard to debug this, as information on the required data exchange is very hard to find. Now, with help from some excellent debugging by Kevin Arndt, it looks like the problem is fixed

If you'd like to test the new version before I make it more widely available, please let me know via PM. You will need a laptop running Windows, and a ScanTool OBD interface (or similar) for connecting to the car. I'll send you the installation file directly.

Further general details here: http://pcbunn.cacr.caltech.edu/jjb/P...64-Porsche.htm

Julian

Love to give it a try - I have been using Scantool "version 4" for quite a while. In fact, I am about to try using the program on a newer laptop, so this will be the impetuous to debug the interface.

While I'm not having any problems at the moment, I'm up for giving it a try.

Anyone who would like to test the latest version, v1.3, is welcome to. It can be downloaded from here:

http://pcbunn.cacr.caltech.edu/jjb/P..._Plot_v1.3.zip

If, when you try to run it, you receive an error saying the "application has failed to start", try installing the vcredist package available here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

(This can happen due to the version of the C runtime on your Windows machine not being recognised by the OBDPlot app.)

As usual, feedback most welcome.

I'm not sure what that involves. If someone lends me a 993, I'll investigate
