Default New sunroof headliner; something a little different

Well, I've finally replaced my torn sunroof headliner after about 3 yrs of putting it off.

I could not source the original cobolt blue liner material and had planned on just going with black.
I then purchased a replacement liner in black, but it turned out the vinyl wasn't much better than the one I had; which was torn.

In the end I just grabbed a piece of fabric that my wife had lying around, glued it up and stuck it in.

So far I'm thrilled! I love having the sound insulation back in place and, somehow, I think it looks great!

It'll be easy enough to change if it comes to annoy me, but for now I think it's kind of fun.

I guess she's finally all mine!

maybe recover the rear seats in that fabric to match. Would be more interesting than just using alcantara.

You don't even want to know what Porsche would have charged for that;-)

well... for a Porsche it is a little... baroque.

Of course, it could be that such genius is simply lost on me.
And, like the king in Amadeus, I can only muster, "too many notes!"

Play on, Maestro!

Dave, now all you need to do is paint some flowers and peace symbols on the body and you are set for Frisco. Are you dropping out?

Yeah, just a little, I suppose.

I've been kind of fed up with all of the work and money I've had to spend on this pig in the last few years. It was supposed to be a "well sorted car" when I bought it. I was nieve; and paid the price.

Well she's nearly sorted now with just a "few" more big ticket items to go; I hope!

Any way, I'm heading out later today with about 15hrs of driving ahead of me for the week. I really wanted the liner back in. I thought it'd be a goof to put the fabric in and am surprised how much I like it.

You can only see it when you get inside the car. It's kind of like the funky liners that go inside a sport coat or suite jacket.

I'm finally starting to feel like it's just a car; my car, and I can do what ever I want with it.

The car still makes me smile every time I turn the key, and that's a good thing.

Cheers

I like the cut of your jib.

This is how Porsche ownership should be!

Never, EVER, add up the bills associated for your car. All it will do is make you unhappy.
I made that very mistake last week After a few days I began to plot and scheme more performance mods again. It's good to have a short memory

It would really become Woodstock-style item if you can find a matching matt-vinyl wrap paisley print for the outside of the car

That's the right attitude. I know how you have felt. I don't think being naive on purchase has as much effect on the whole ownership experince as does the fact that these are now 20 year old-ish cars, and things need fixing. Best not to have OCD about old cars; just drive it and enjoy. Easy for me to say, considering how fussy I am about my cars
