Crush washers
I am going to change my oil. I sent out and got a filter from local P dealer. Got two crush washers.
My question: What does a crush washer look like. The ones I got from dealer look like regular washers.
Yep, you guessed it -- first oil change.

The oil drain plug washers are aluminum, and rather large in diameter, larger than a quarter, with a pretty large hole in the middle, so they're about 5 or 6 mm worth of washer, and about 3 mm thick. (just going from memory here)
Not perfect, but if you need to re-use the ones you have, I have 'refinished' them in a pinch by sanding them on wet/dry paper til both mating surfaces are flat.

Sounds like what i got. Am a bit nervous because when I went to buy the filter, the young guy in parts asked me some questions to which I thought he should know answers. And then said, "Does this look like them?" as he handed me two plain looking washers.

You need one washer for both of the drain plugs for an oil change. The first is the plug on the thermostat, the other is on the engine case. The good news is that the tranny uses the same drain plugs and crush washers. I bought a bunch of crush washers (20). They were 15 cents each.
