964 Clutch Slave Cylinder Confirmation
I am preparing to bleed my brakes in my 1993 RSA. After reading Adrians book and the Porsche work shop manual, bleeding the clutch slave cylinder is a must.
So with that said, I am under the 911 looking for this component, since there is no clear pitures in the previous 2 references.
I believe I have found it. Is it way on top of the transmission? Of course I traced the lines and I see a bleed nipple there. Not an easy reach. Can listers please confirm this is the clutch slave cylinder. Also any tips are certainly appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, that's the slave cyl. If you raise the car and remove the left rear wheel you can reach/work the cylinder sitting on your butt. It's better than being under the car and risking break fluid in your face.

Yes, that is the slave cylinder on the top of the tranny. I use a Motiv pressure bleeder to bleed it. Its awkward to reach but doable. I jack up the car, remove the left rear wheel. Then slip on a 7mm box wrench over the bleed screw, attach the bleed hose/bottle. Pressurize the power bleeder, then open the bleed screw. Keep bleeding until the fluid is clear and free of bubbles. Close the bleed. Then step on the clutch pedal to confirm its firm and feels right. Then recheck that the bleed screw is tight, and begin clean up. It should take about 30 minutes in total time.

I would like to add one small step, after you slip the 7 m/m box end wrench over the bleed screw, have a piece of 1/4" transparent fuel line ready and put that on the bleed screw, it should be long enough to reach into a can sitting on the floor; no mess no clean-up.
Have fun, easy job if you have the Motive pressure bleeder.
