I have heard that some people can take out the window without destroying the rubber, but why chance it. The easy way is to cut the rubber.

Now the bad news, I broke the antenna lead last night. Porsche changed the lead from a standard wire to a ribbon cable. I suspect the ribbon cable was not intended to go through the rubber but go up along the windshield and then over into the car.

There is about 2mm to work with to solder the connection back, but if that fails, I will have a new 964 windshield without antenna available at a discount for those who want to put it into an older car with an antenna.

Solder worked. I will encapsulate the bottom joint in epoxy and install tonight.

could not install.
We tried top first, bottom first, and a third time bottom first. Just could not exert enough force to seat the rubber.
What a mess now. I need now to clean everything again and order a new rubber surround if I can't get it clean.

I will hire someone with the grippers to install when I am ready. Never had any difficulty on previous windows.

I had a similar problem with a non Porsche replacement rubber. It simply would not fit. Cleaned up original one & it went straight in.

Can anyone confirm that Porsche changed how the antenna wire is routed and is now up along side the windshield rather than through the windshield gasket? I just had a new windshield installed and this (see pic) is how they installed it. I never looked at how it was routed before they replaced the windshield so I don't know if this was how it was originally routed? Thanks!

No problem. They replaced a brand new windscreen that has one rock chip. Free from insurance. I kept old one as a spare.
