Lately the warning light ( ! symbol) goes on, and no other warning lights, I can reset it, but after a while it pops on again.... what can it be ?

Its is going to relate to something, like abs, belts, etc. what other lights come on when it shows ! symbol?

If no other lights come on when the ! lights up, when you next go to start the car, when you turn the ignition on, without starting the car, check that all of the warning lights light up that should light up - it's highlighted in the Owners Manual as to which ones should. If some don't it could be that the bulb has gone, or been removed...

If you put a code reader on it , the computer might just tell you what its unhappy about .

While it is unlikely, it's possible that it is the '!' by itself.

This happened to me and it turned out to be the Central Informer connection, which is up under the dash to the left of the LHD steering column.

I fixed it by reseating the connector.

That said, it seems morelikely that it's a missing, or dead, warning light.

I checked all lights with contact on, all function properly... the search continues thanks all,
I am open for any suggestion !

Mine was coming on for no apparent reason once, then I realized it only came on when I turned my lights on - turns out it was a dash light on the lower left for the headlight ****. Took me awhile to realize the indicator was only coming on when I had my lights on, then figured it out. Does yours always come on, or maybe just when your lights are on?

When it happened to me it was the result of the spoiler not coming up when I got to 70 Kph.

yesterday (sunday) I took her out for a spin, and the light ! did not come up....
so... it cured itself, electronics even in the simple form of a 1989 P car is a mystery.
