I like the modification of the GT3 Cup intake and the packaging of the RS 3.8 airbox for use with MAF. Once your valve covers are complete, will you also be manufacturing cam covers in carbon fibre? The other heavy piece on the engine is the fan housing, maybe that would be a candidate for CF?

I gotta be thinking that big old intake runner is just howling for a CF redo...

oh, and vid of the dyno run (with sound) is required...

First test engine on engine dyno was a legitmate 392 HP. Second version with test parts less than 370 HP. Third engine ready for testing in a few weeks when new cams completed.

We are only using Porsche Parts. If anyone else wants to submit parts at no cost or expense, and such parts are deemed by us to be appropriate for test, we will do so. Final engine parts, however, may be made in different materials, e.g., final connecting rods will be titanium, final wrist pins will be composite, etc.

Is Colin in the Haus?!

I'd love to see a 4.0 L build-off between these two 964 Legends. Who would have thought the 964 would be so cool and interesting after all these years?

We are not running a contest. Notwithstanding, if Mr. Belton or anyone else would like to ship an entire motor together with ECU and software appertaining thereto, we would be happy to test it on the same engine dyno in an objective, systematic way with no room for debate or excuse. Please do not think this rude or obnoxious, but we will not be accepting the "results" of others, particularly as many have chassis rather than certified engine dynos which can produce varying results and others just plain tend to exaggerate and/or show results subject to numerous questions and issues. Further, the engine will be reviewed not just for HP (anyone can over stress an engine to produce HP) but for durability, longevity and replicability.

Of course I meant nothing negative with my comment; just excited to see so much effort (still) being put into air-cooled engines. I understand your engineering concerns.

It's a 911. Perpetually cool.

Great stuff.

Did not take it as negative. Many out there in tuner land have great theories and ideas, some can even show results demonstrable in an environment (in this case, a dyno) other than their own. I hope we will find better answers for the air cooled engine than those at Porsche but, and forgive me, I am skeptical.

P.S. One engine "expert", not Mr. Belton, has already declined the offer to go on a certified dyno. Too often it is like the story of catching the "big fish", when measured with a real instrument it is quite a bit smaller.
