I guess depends what is involved but if a bolt on then should be the same labor and even though your motor is not perfect now i am sure you could sell it off or part it out to offset some of teh expenses

I would strongly consider selling the C4 and buying a 964 turbo. They can be had in the high $30-low $40 range. I say this because it will probably cost you $15k to turbocharge your C4 and IMO it will be very difficult to get the majority of that money back at resale time.

I would be lucky to get 10-12 out of my car since it is leaking quite a bit, and I would feel too bad selling to someone whom didn't know any better. I wouldn't want a CIS turbo, and to be honest, I don't like the widebody look, except maybe the 993tt. Those cars are still in the 60's for a good one. If the right color combo of 996tt came along at a dealer where I could trade, I might consider going over to that dark side, as some of those are into the 30's! I just don't like the styling that much and feel that a 911 should be air cooled, the way it started. As far as resale, 99% of cars are bad investments, money spent is money for personal pleasure, which I would get from driving it. I've had this car 11 years, and would probably never sell it after dumping major money into it.

Sure it can be done...just matters where you want to start and stop....I went far deeper than most, but that was in the original design brief.

So, for those of you wondering, it CAN be done. And fairly easy. Apparently, the ABS/PDAS awd system is somewhat of a stand alone unit. So the swap isn't much, if any, harder than putting a 993 engine in our cars. My local mechanic charges around 4k to do that, plus, of course, fabrication to make the exhaust and intercooler fit.
Now the bad news, the driveline can't handle the torque. This must be why Porsche went to the "dumb" awd system of the 993's, more stout. LA964RS hooked me up with a gentleman in Italy that did this mod, he blew up 2 transmissions and the center diff, with the first trans going in 2,000km! So, it looks like you need the driveline from the turbo as well for it to be reliable.
