G Pipe Mounting Question
Just mounted my G pipe and am quite happy with it but do have a question. Looking at the picture I posted. The left side of the pipe gets mounted to the primary and the right side to the tail pipe? The reason I'm asking is that the tail pipe now fits flush to the exhaust opening. Pryor to this with the stock setup the tail pipe extended a few inches past the exhaust opening in the bumper. Just a little concerned about burning the paint on the bumper.
Your thoughts appreciated,
Dan

Thanks Dwane, I guess my primary concern is if I got the correct orientation of the pipe. That is if I have the correct inlet and outlet of the G pipe. I have the exhaust pipe perfectly centered in the outlet of the cutout in the bumper. Again the exhaust tip appears to be shorter than stock.

Yes, if the tip is too close to the bumper, it will melt it. Make sure there's at least a half inch gap between the pipe and bumper cutout.
You might try to "pull it out" a little by playing with the clamp combinations. As Dwane pointed out, there's a lot of play which should allow you to optimize its placement.
These things require some fine tuning to get it right, so don't be surprised (or discouraged) if you need to make several attempts.

Joey, so looking at the picture I posted, the left side of the pipe is correct to mount to the primary muffler?

Beauty, thanks guys for confirming and the visual that I have it hooked up correctly. Now as mentioned have to play more with the angles. Feeling a little frustrated at the moment.....

This is one of those finicky "try it several times to get it right" challenges. There's a lot of "slop" in the various connection points - so it's doable. Just have a beer, step away from it for a few minutes and return in a calm mind-set. You'll find that cursiously - it'll just "work" after some fiddling and you'll be so stoked on your success.
Enjoy the new sound!

Actually I like the way the connectors work, as they allow for adjustment all over the place. As often as I pull off the exhaust, I find these so much easier to work with than the old pipe male/female thing with clamps.

Well, the installation is complete. It looks the same as when I originally posted. The tip of the exhaust really should come out a few inches further. The area around the cut out in the bumper is fine. I'll keep an eye on it. Perhaps I'm too much of a perfectionist.
tbennett017, I too liked the connectors. Pretty easy to rotate to get the bends needed.
RK, the sound is really quite nice. Has a nice little rumble or burble to it and it seems to rev a little better at top end. Feels like the exhaust has been uncorked. Quite a nice improvement for the buck. Quite intoxicating.
Joey, I haven't gotten around to the suspension yet.
Thanks everyone for your help,
Dan

Glad you like the sound. We had four of five 964's together last fall and it was great to be able to compare the various exhaust sounds in real time. We had stock, primary delete and secondary delte versions. No one had a fully open system i don't think and all I've read suggests that's an HP killer.
The G pipe is a sweet sound for sure - congrats!

It seems like a read a post about 5 months ago about someone being concerned that their exhaust wasn't sticking out far enough Same concerns about melting the bumper. I think he ended up not liking the sound IIRC.
I ran around with a primary delete / g-pipe (long one) combo for a weekend. Way loud...but a hot rod kinda fun. If anyone has a cat delete that wants to trade for the long pipe lemme know.
