Default Battery Disconnect Switch - Pos or Neg?

Hi everyone

I've bought a battery disconnect switch so that I can easily disconnect the battery when I'm not going to be using the car. The negative cable on the car is too short to put it on that terminal. Is it OK to put it on the positive terminal?

Thanks!

That's what they are made for.

Thanks Steve. I'll stick it on the positive then.

The factory installs it on the negative side on the Cup cars.

Our club rules require the postive side. One note Andy, if you kill the power the ECU that controls the engine will reset each time. This can be a good thing or bad depending on what ignition map was stored. If you want a more aggresive engine map on re-energizing the system then drive it like you stole it for a little while each time. I just ran a CTek charger on my 964. The turbo doesn't have this issue.

Thanks. Any excuse to drive it like I stole it is a good excuse! It's in a car park where I don't have the option to plug in a trickle charger unfortunately, so I'm looking at this to eliminate the chance of a flat battery from the alarm draining it as I can just unplug it when I'm not using it.

Umm, what do you mean by reenergizing the map in the 964 ECU? The ECU has 3 sets of maps and they are selected by utilizing a jumper on a 3 pin plug, or by not having the plug at all. The ECU does not learn, or reset when the constant power is off. There is a second plug for jumpering items for the Tiptronic transmission.
