AC Control Unit Issues
Hi all, I have a 1991 964 C2 and would like to know if anyone out there have any information on teh AC CU. I currently brought my car in for service to an independent porsche repairshop. I was having high temperature reading during city driving. I got some information from other posts and they were related to the oil cooling system. Now I was told by the shop that I need a new AC control unit. Does anybody know if there is one out there for a fairly reasonable price. My shop is asking 1800 for a new one or 750 for a rebuilt. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jack, check the link provided...it mentions various fixes including jumping out the oil cooler fan relay.

Check eBay. There's a listing to rebuild your unit for less than $400.
I have one I bought from a fellow Rennlister who claimed it was not working properly. I bought it for the small recirc and defrost buttons. I will probably have it rebuit and sell it in working condition without the buttons, which could be transferred from a buyer's non-working unit.
The module on the back of the unit sometimes goes bad, per Streuther's book, and if that's the case it can be replaced at a savings over replacing the entire unit.
