Hi,,
The old targa I have is a 1990 row model,,I wanted to buy all singing and dancing shiny suspension for my Pink car(rubystone, non metallic ,rs colour) and put its old stuff on the targa, but it doesn't fit I am told.
So the targa gets it first .
The part numbers would help my research for the best price.
Thanks again Gaz

I will do as I am told,,,,
Hi,
Thanks for all your help on the numbers etc and I'll get in the engine bay over the weekend and check my rear shock towers.
I know eurocarparts are the main supply of bilstein to the uk,,,so part numbers and a little patience with the staff there and I could get these items a lot cheaper than the specialists.
Regards Gaz,,

I am so excited to get going with these babies on the car. I have 161.000miles on the original dampers so I am looking forward to something a bit more firm- yet flexible. Right now it feels like the dampers is a couple of 2"x4" hooked together with velcro...
polar964,
Yep I gonna get H&R Greens together with the HD´s.

" you could compress the fronts with 2 fingers, and had zero rebound."
Forecast is that I can bet that then!!!
It also tells how well made these cars are. After 20 years and 162.000miles of constant abuse it still is an intoxicating drive. It still handles better than most new cars...

...... your right there hawk911.
Would be interested to know what life time Bilsteins suggest. Obviously depends on the type of driving, road or track. I'm sure they they could approximate for normal road, spirited driving use!

What other worn suspension parts should be replaced when doing the shocks and springs to get the best results from the car considering many these cars are 20+ years and +100K .

A suspension specialist I talked to not to long ago mentioned the range up to 70.000-80.000km (43.500miles- 49.700miles) as an prime for normal suspension. Then again he makes a living of selling suspensions...
"I didn't change anything but bushings seem a popular replacement also"
Which bushings are you thinking of? The top mounts are kind of pricey.
"Also says people should change them out sooner than they think"
Tires is one area that really scares me how rarely people check and maintain.
We just bought a preowned family sedan from a dealership. My (pregnant) wife was cruising around when suddenly the car started making a "bad sound" so being a good girl, she pulled over and when I saw the cause of noise...brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
Tires were amnufactured week 44 2005 so they were not that old.
