Default Bilstein HD delivery

Hi,

I took delivery of set of Bilstein HDs today.

I wonder if the rear dampers should not contain parts 6,7,8 in the PET too?
Or is this all you get?

Thanks for your input.

Daniel

That is all that came with mine. I used the old sleeves as they were still good. Pretty, aren't they

Shox.com were the cheapest in Dec 09 and they were in stock too - some other companies said there was a big waiting list.

Mine did not come with those pieces either. I reused the old ones I think (been a while). I also got mine from Shox.com. It was the cheapest place I found and got them in a few days.

The bump stop (#8) is not required on the Bilstein rear shocks, as they have an internal bump stop - I THINK. It is either front or rear, and my memory is not 100% sure any more. I recall contacting Bilstein tech support, and they confirmed which shock does not require the external bump stop.
(you might find that if the bump stop is used, then with the lowered stance the shock may ride very close to the bump stop and thus significantly change your spring rates. I have a really good article on the contribution of bump stops to the overall spring rates - by design. It is written for 996 suspensions, but the principles are the same. If I can figure out how to upload the article, which is a series of fairly large pdf files - anyone help me post these?)

Hi guys,

Thanks for your input.
I actually got them from Tirerack at the same price as Shox.com. These beauties were on my door step 2day after the order was placed. My dog was very-very interested in them too...

I don't remember as it's been 3 yrs now since I swapped mine. I also put Turbo springs on that I got from a RL'er. Very worthwhile day spent wrenching

Hi,

Could one of you Gents post me the part numbers for the rear shocks and front strutts,as I am trying to get these direct from the importers.
I hope this suspension and eibach springs will bring new life to my old targa, its very 4x4 at the moment .

I like it. You can feel the road, but our roads aren't terribly rutted. I don't remember, but are the turbo the same as the M030? I have H&R Red springs.

It depends if your car has the new or old style on the back. They changed the rear mounts sometime in 91.

Default must try harder

Hi,,

The old targa I have is a 1990 row model,,I wanted to buy all singing and dancing shiny suspension for my Pink car(rubystone, non metallic ,rs colour) and put its old stuff on the targa, but it doesn't fit I am told.
So the targa gets it first .
The part numbers would help my research for the best price.

Thanks again Gaz
