Annual Furor over Excellence "pricing"
seems the annual pissing contest has commenced (993 forum) porsche owners vs. bruce anderson's valuations -february edition covering 964's/993's.
i do not subscribe, so will wander down to the bookshop next day or so & have a look.

I actually think Bruce is about on for what the cars are bringing these days. 993 owners tend to overestimate the value of their cars because they think they are the best and irreplacable. We've bought nice 993s for mid to upper 20s for the last 4 years.

If BM can find those "excellent" C2S cars for under $35K, I'd like to take 3 please.
Here's a real world report of a sale: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...-for-sale.html
Mr. Anderson, care to share how you gather your data?

For the 964 C2 Coupe, Bruce is saying that a 1990 so-so example should get 14,750 through a 1994 Excellent example should get 23,338. I think those numbers are right on.

AND very sad at the same time. I would have rather driven the car another 20,000 miles and really enjoyed it (outside of the garage), then sell it at an "excellent" price.
What would an excellent "real-world" mileage car sell for is the question?
ilko,
Is that the "type" of car you bought? BTW, I like the new website!

Between BA's mythical one-America marketplace and 993er narcissism (), such a little dust-up is (to me) really quite amusing.
(Like little old ladies getting upset over last month's Vanity Fair astrology predictions.)
Value? What the market will bear, baby... What the market will bear.

Three months ago I just missed (holds up two fingers with hair like spacing) a 1992 c4 with 65k miles or 15K. My salesman called me and told me they had a c2 come in, I did not return the call for a couple days because it was a c2 and I am looking for a c4. Turns out he misspoke and it was actually a c4. The car sold to another customer for $15,500, I have been fuming over that since then and it has really spoiled my taste for pricing. That was a Porsche dealer selling a clean example C4 for 15k, no way I can justify spending 18 for an over 100k mile 964 now.

Looks like his 964 pricing is right on. 993 seems a little low to me but I'm no expert.
My theory, however, is that clean, low mile and lower volume 964s (like '94 C4 WB, Turbo 3.6, Speedster, etc...) will vastly outperform 993s. Simple fact that there's less of them and the 964 is the perfect blend of "classic" 911 lines and modern detailing.
Obviously I'm biased;-)

The splitting hairs over a few thousand dollars seems ridiculous to me. One unexpected repair or issue could send you well over the difference. I think I paid too much for mine. But I wanted this color. I have no regrets.

I'd say pricing on the open market is much higher.
And specialist Porsche shop prices are even higher!!!
