Default ESCO Jack Stands

Seemed like a good price. No affiliation.

A quick search on the web shows these stands are made in China and they wobble!

A fair amount of research indicated these were quality. Even your reference seems to show from safe to overkill. I like the flat top.

Nice. I kicked something like this around for a while. I don't know anyone I'd trust welding that up though.

PNine64, here is the link to the origional thread. I have been using these stands for over a year now with no problems what so ever. They are easy to make and the price is right.

I have a pair, and they don't wobble, but they are really tall even in their lowest position. I can't use my floor jack to raise the 964 high enough to set them up in one go (without scaring the crap out of myself). They work great on other cars with higher ground clearance, however.

I know what you mean when you say you have to jack the car up pretty high to get them on the stands. My jack goes high enough, but I am holding my breath to get them on there. Once the car is lowered on them, it sure does not feel like it is going anywhere. It would be nice if there more varieties of this design out there.

So are there any tips/tricks to getting them up there?

I figured I'd drop the rear pan (yes...I have one for now).
Jack at the rear lift point on one side until the front lifted enough to get the stands under.
Do the other side the same way.
Go jack under the engine lifting the back up enough to slide the rear two in.

Help would be appreciated.

I put a piece of wood underneath the car and rolled the jack onto it. That allowed me to get the car high enough to get the jacks under it.

They are 13 in min height. To get the front jackstands in, you'll have to raise one side of the car 14 in. That's quite a lean. I Jack up one side a little, put some 2 x 12s under each wheel, and then jack up the other side to place the jackstand. Then, I go back to the side with the 2 x 12 and get the front stand in on that side. Finally, I lift the rear and put those stands in simultaneously.
