Default Pressurizing oil system before post-rebuild start up?

A trick used on American V-8's with distributor shaft driven oil pumps is to remove the distributor gear and spin the shaft, and subsequently the oil pump, with a drill to pressurize the oil system prior to start-up after a rebuild.

Has anyone ever pre-oiled a 911 motor after a rebuild, or do you think it's a waste of time to try to minimize the effects of that first start-up? Should I just rely on the assembly lube?

Pull the DME relay and crank until you get oil pressure.
