Hey Solitude,

You need two bushings, one for the ball on the end of the shift rod and the other for the ball mounted forward of the shift assembly, in my case welded onto the drive shat tube. If you have a C2 the ball will be welded onto a small plate. The assembly is part 15, 16 and 17 in the above illustration and the two bushings are pressed into the cups at each end.

I found the best way was to press the bushing on with a block of wood or large dowel until the lip of the bushing is pressed against the rim of the cup and then use a large flat blade screwdriver to gently press the bushing edge fully down into the cup working around the rim.

You will need a vise to push the ball into the cup or in the case of a C4 you will need to do this under the car and a fllor jack is ideal. Just remember to use a smear of grease on the inside of the cup before pressing on the ball.

My shifter is now smooth and precise again for a few dollars spent and an hours work so I'm well pleased!

Thanks Neil. So I need to order 2 of the same bushing. My is a C2.
