c4 to c2 race car
I tried to sell my 1989 c4 few months ago with no luck so I did this:
-moton clubsport
-solid bushings suspension
-camber plates
-993 g50 with with short gears
-roll cage
-fiberglass doors, hood, wing
-solid trans/engine mounts
-235/18 285/18 michelin sport cup tires
-RS sway bars
total weight with 3/4 tank 2560 lbs, corner balanced and aligned.
Thank's to this forum (lots of info on everything), Steve at Rennsport (suspension and gears) and Joel Reiser (info on c4 to c2 conversion) and my mechanic, the result was a very competitive car on the track, almost Top time if it wasn't for low fuel that made the engine shut off on right hand sweeper!

Nice! That is end state for me, but I think I am going to leave it AWD and try and gat my PCA club racing license. I have to do it piece by piece though (darn budgets!!!)

5mm front same studs, 17 mm rear studs are part of the H&R spacer. got some rubbing on the rear so moving to 21 mm. with 275/18 rear no problem.

Cool story!
I used to race a C4. Great car for PCA and you'll have plenty of competitors in E Class. I only switched to rwd after it experienced an unfortunate off, otherwise, I'd still be running it.

Yeah, I love the way that she handles! I have pondered trading out for a C2, but I love the car and I think that I would miss her too much.
I am going for the stock class and have looked through the 2009 club racing rules, but can you chip the car or will that bump me up a class??

Besides, some of the fastest 964's in PCA run a stock chip. Of course, these cars are very well set up and have great drivers, so chips aren't exactly a game changer. Plus, a C4 can run with the best of them in E even with a stock chip. Just check out Chris Reinsborough's results at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen.
With a good suspension (Moton, JRZ or CROSS) and cat and muffler bypasses, the C4 is a pretty capable track weapon. Add decent pads and rubber, along with ample seat time and instruction, and you'll be up to speed in no time. Feel free to pm with any other set up or race questions you might have--alway glad to help.
