Default Undertray Side Shields

I know the rear undertray deletion is a 'some do' and 'some dont' type of thing, but for those like me who prefer to run without it in place, do you run without the side shields as well? These are the ones that hang vertical between the Engine and Cat one side and Engine and Final Silencer the other.

I'm sure they lend a bit of heat protection to the engine from the exhaust, but are they worth being there?

Mine are looking tatty with the NVH material on the engine side perishing and I was going to tidy them up, but then wondered if they could be assigned to the same place as all the other weight saving parts!

What's the consensus of opinion?

All is removed! I run a cat bypass which presumably does not run as hot as a stock cat, though.

I have my undertray removed but have all of the other panels in place. They keep the exhaust's heat away from the engine and they also direct the air flow. I'll be curious to hear if others have their removed.

My sides are in place: partly to protect the plug wiring from the exhaust heat.

I ran w/o tray fro 3 years, without rear panel for 2 and have run 2 DEs without any panels since Sept. No problems experienced so far. Car runs just as cool as I lot easier to do tech inspections and routine maintenance and cleaning.

They keep the exhaust's heat away from the engine and they also direct the air flow

Direct air flow? with out the lower tray they can hardly do that....

They are more for sound reduction than anything else.

CAT installed. Undertray and rear panels not installed (for two years). Side panels still in place but NVH material removed. I was thinking like tbennett017 and I do have some discoloration on the left side panel indicating that it gets pretty hot there.
