Hawk Blue. Street and DE. Much better than the Porsche OEM I ran with at the track yet still 'streetable'. They may squeel a little but not bad. Cheaper than the Pagids

Still on the standard early c-2 brakes all round, small rear calipers.
the brakes work ok, but do require a lot of force to make them grab hard.
As i said, only once have they made me worry, but iam thinkin better 2 much brakes than not enough.

All the lines are new, rigid and flexi. new discs and pads, new ate fluid, bridgestone tyres.
Discs and pads fitted by myself, fluid done by u11.
i cant feel any air in them, but have noticed a fault in the abs.(car locked up in a recent near miss)
Can an abs fault cause problems with the feel of the brakes?

With the small brakes on the back you are going to be limited in pad choice in our country. I couldn't find anything except the standard textar pads for those calipers. You could just try changing the fronts (to some of the suggestions in this thread) but that could change the bias and make the back feel a bit skitty if the front is biting better.

This leads me to a thought that because you are all standard with the brakes, that you might have caliper spring plate lift because they've never been refurbished? This stops the pads moving freely and might be the reason why you feel lots of force is needed. When I put the 4 pots on the back I refurbished all of the calipers (I had lots of lift behind the plates) and they now perform much better than they ever did before. They bite straight away and the pedal stays nice and firm.

I also got the ABS working better by cleaning up the sensors however I don't think a problem with that would have any effect on the initial pedal feel.

I agree steve, me thinks the calipers need a re-furb.
Ive decided to find a set ov 4 pot rears, flea bay or breakers, and have all four re-furbed and fitted with decent pads.
I reckon that will sort the problem.
Whear did you source your 4 pot rears from? How much?
Allso are 944 4 pot rears the same as 964 4 pot rears? They look the same.

Mine were off a 928 S4 and I got them off ebay for £150. The rear 4 pots off the 944 turbo (not the normal 944) are also the same as the 964 rears. I believe 968 rears are also the same. In all of these cases you need to swap the bleeds and feeds when putting them on a 964. There were some proper 964 C4 rears on ebay for ages recently but they look like they have gone now.
