It's a long story, but it needs to be told... Back in 1979, before I could legally drive, I bagged groceries at a small grocery store. The owner had a new red 911 turbo with black interior and he let me wash it for free. At 15 I was blown away by that car.

After that time I moved on, mostly to muscle cars. A '67 Mustang fastback that knew how much I made that week because that's what it took to keep it running, a Mustang 5.0 that was fast and got faster as I modded it, A Grand National, Camaros, Firebirds, more mustangs, and finally Vipers. The Vipers took me to club racing and I was hooked. I have run at Brainerd, Road America, Mid Ohio, Gingerman, Gateway, Blackhawk and even LVMS. The slppery slope had taken me to Motons, springs, brake ducts, sway bars, flywheel, wheels, slicks and hoosiers, roll bar, headers, 5 points, etc.

This past weekend I picked up a '94 C2. I hadn't forgotten just how beautiful these cars are, but what really blows me away is driving it. There is a precision about this 15 year old Porsche that is, well, absolutely amazing. Where the Viper is a sledge hammer, this thing is a scalpel. It's hard to explain, and I know I'm not telling you guys anything you don't already know, but these cars are fantastic!

Wow, what a great "car history" you've had!

To come from all that and still be able to appreciate the 964 is nice to hear! I've haven't been in or driven in most of the American muscle you mentioned so it's always interesting to hear people's perspective on the "911" experience! This is my first 911, it has over 120K on the clock, and it still feels so solid. It's the first car that I've owned that feels like it could easily do 200 -300K+ miles (and still be worth a crap)!

A '94... do you have a wide-bodied C4? Love those cars!

Welcome!

Cool story.

My first grade girlfriend’s Dad drove a brand new 911 3.2 (it might have been an SC). I thought that must have been the coolest car on Earth.

Ah to be young and impressionable.

(...and 911Jetta's right - A '94 C2 would be quite the rare duck find!)

great! and welcome. i can relate to your story. i started out with american muscle....then when i was posted to japan in 96 had bmw's (certainly not memorable) and couple of late model alfa's (truly wonderful).
when i returned went back to american muscle and finished up with an 04 cobra (dyno'd 575rwHP).
last yr "came to my senses" and invested in 92 c2 cab (turbo look). car is tight, rattle free and just a joy to drive....with the low hood-road just unrolls right below the windscreen-great fun indeed.
where are your photo's?

Why do you say this? There were not many 1994 C2s sold, but they were available.

Chuck,
Lonnie's comment, like mine, was a kinder, gentler way of saying
This thread is truly useless without pics
Actually, I didn't see the C2 in JBenko's intro. My mistake... now lets see pictures....

Chuck,
I like the seats in your car (seen from the link above), plus the silver shift cap! Is that a 993 6-speed cap? I'd love to find a silver 5-speed cap... but then I'd have to buy pedals, bezel rings, etc....

Best,
Udo

Interesting for you that these two cars - made just over 10 years apart - made the same horsepower.
(unless it was a brand, spanking new 78,79.)

Udo,

Ah, I see. That was the second time I saw someone suggest that there were no C2s offered in 1994 (similar claim made here: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...ml#post6966594).

That is a 5-speed shift cap I bought from Gert/ Carnewal. My original cashmere shifter had worn; I bought a replacement cashmere shift cover from AGLA but it began to show significant wear immediately. Disappointed with the AGLA cover, I bought the one I had always admired from Gert/Carnewal , along with the matching e-brake (http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p64007.htm). The seats are Cobra Misanos.
