Default oil pressure

Whe I idle I am about 3 bar but once I hit the gas i go to 5. 4 maybe if just slightly on the throttle. Is that ok or is there sometimes too much oil pressure? I use 15w 50 oil

At idle it should be closer to 2 bar... and then move to 4-5 as you rev away... normal

Measure your oil if you think is overfilled...

Car must be warm (normal operating temperature). Level surface, at idle... measure via dipstick and gauge (should be around 3/4 in the gauge)...

Hi oil pressure may be an indication of restricted oil passages just like clogged arteries and hi blood pressure in people. Maybe your guage or sender is out of calibration or defective. You can verify the pressure by connecting a good quality oil pressure guage to an oil port.

If it is 3bar when the car is fully warmed up then its higher than any other 964 I have seen. Is it fully warmed up and oil cooler open when this happens?

I will have to keep a closer eye on this. If I am at 3 and should be lower what should I look for? I know the oil tank oil lines and pump were replaced two years or less ago.

Is the gauge smooth? Does it moves smoothly from 3 to 5 and when in idle it stays calmly at 3? Or do you see it having erratic behavior?

If you see some erratic behavior it is most likely the sender at the engine (either a bad sender or bad contact.

I have a LWF and chip so the motor idles around 850-900 not hunting but not flat so teh pressure moves slightly. It really just goes up when I hit the throttle goes up.
