Thumbs up HPDC

Well I am headed in the a.m. to my 2nd PCA High Performance Drving Course at Summit Point in WV. In April, I took the course for the first time in my 1st Porsche...1988 928 S4 auto..loved that car...just not right for the track...so I traded for my 1991 964 C2 5 speed, a month ago, barely time to get a few things done and learn the car. PCA is letting me take the Driving Course again because I now have a much different Porsche....I actually paid so that why I get to go !! Looking forward to a day at the track to learn a new car..probably going to sign up for the Oct 31- Nov 1 DE after this...finally got the car inspected this week , should be all set, I will report in later and maybe write an article about my HPDC experiences.. 4:00 am comes early !!! Cheers, Kevin.................

Congrats, keep the shiny side up and buy the pics if they have a photographer so you can show off here. Summit point is always a good time.

Before you book your next, think of VIR. Even better than Scumit Point.

Bring some tarps for your stuff,or better yet clean out your trunk tonight and bring only what you need as it's going to rain all day Saturday and anything you have to take out will get wet. Keep your head, as it will be like the skid pad everywhere. I'll be volunteering tomorrow so I'll see you there.

Default WET TRACK !!

Boy oh boy was that track slippery !! Now I know why hockey pucks are made from rubber !! Colder conditions after a long dry summer, with lots of track days imbeded and also wet ..talk about understeer...one giant skidpad all afternoon !! But you know what? I learned so much about differential driving and how variable any given day at the track can be !! It was actually very fun to slide around the track..figured out that staying in 3rd gear kept the torque lower and kept everyone from going off track...no accidents ...lots of great oversteer corrections and a little drifting around the turns by the instructors ...fun to watch...going home was another story! Saw 4-5 cars in the ditch on the way home..... almost like an ice storm... a great group of folks with everything from SC Targas to 997 GT3's, an Audi wagon and a Nissan. Already signed up for the Halloween/Nov 1st DE...just hope for a little drier conditions ...all in all a great day.. Thanks everybody !!! Kevin........
