brake pedal "clicking"
A few months ago I bled my C2' s brake lines and, since then, it's brake pedal is not smooth anymore... it "clicks" during it's travel...
Bad news? Is the master cylinder going? If so, is it refurbishable? If not, wich one to buy?
ciao e grazie

How did you bleed your brakes? By pushing on the brake pedal or with a pressure bleeder? I'm told you can damage your master cylinder if you do it the old fashioned way.

Rob,
That's a new one that I hadn't heard. I knew about the "extra tools" needed to do C4 brakes, but didn't know about the C2's. I used to do my 993 the "old fashioned way".

You can damage the seal in the master cylinder by stroking it more than the normal travel IF the shaft has dirt or rust on it. This is why the conventional wisdom is to not fully depress the brake pedal. Now, we do it from time-to-time.
My car has the same issue and it is most likely a bad master cylinder or bad vacuum canister. I haven't looked at it yet (was like that when I bought the car 3 years ago).

did it tend to improve during the three years?

I'm pretty sure it can be dissassembled after all it was assemled in the first place and the seals renewed, unless they're some odd ball custom sizes. It maybe worth it (i.e. I hear they're dear) to take it apart and clean it up at least, before that debris does some real damage. It's pretty difficult to do a brake bleed the old fashion way if you don't depress the brake pedal all the way.

Hmmm...interesting thread. I swapped out my track pads for my road pads at the weekend and noticed afterwards that the pedal has developed a perceptable click. I didn't need to do a bleed but looking at the replies above, I too pushed the pedal all the way to the floor during the process of resetting the pads to the disc faces. Looks like this might have been the cause for me too!
