Default Time for Tuesday

Well, Monday was a US holiday and I took the day off from the Monday post. So it's time to catch up. Drove the Porsche Saturday morning to Glenview, IL for Supercar Saturdays. There was about 100 cars there, with anything from Ferrari to Subaru WRX and lots in between. Lambos, Ferraris, Audi R8 (1x) Tesla, Subaru WRX, Nissan GTRs, Vettes, BMWs, just a few muscle cars, and of course Porsches. Was a great morning drive down there, my son riding shotgun, daughter in the back seat. Both pumped about going with dad to a car show. My son loves the exotics more than the muscle cars so this was a great treat for both of us. Meg just loves car shows. She does know a Porsche when she sees 'em, though.

Had a neighbors party that night, then my in-law's 40th anniversary Sunday. Worked a bit yesterday at a small photo gig I have, then relaxed the rest of the night.

Here's a few pictures, and a link to the gallery for the Supercars. We're the first image....

I got back from Virgina yesterday after a nice visit to my beach house on the Chesapeake Bay. i finally got the inside renovations and painting done after going back and forth from Florida to work on it all summer. Now the septic tank drain field decided to stop working yesterday morning so time to make some calls to get that replaced. Guess its better to do all of the repairs now while I still have a job! I really need to drive my Porsche's some this week

I had a great 5 days off. I took Thurs and Friday off prior to the 3 day weekend. I had to work a few hours Thurs morning to finish some things that didn't get done Wednesday. My patio furniture was delivered Wednesday, was able to have (finally) a BBQ on the new deck with my girlfriend. The rest of Thursday was errands (took my cab's cooling fan to the powder coater and cashed in $725 in coins at the bank) and had an opportunity to take a nap. Gee that felt good.

Friday, my friend and I worked to install the ignition wires on my coupe and to assemble the exhaust taken apart for the valve adjustment. I also installed my new 4mm spacers on the rear wheels. I had some rubbing on the inside fender wells. I also cleaned, primed, painted the damaged areas. We almost finished when my girlfriend came over. We called it a day and headed to the deck with some "adult" beverages. Yum....

Saturday, we finished the car and took it for a test drive. Horray! My first 911 valve adjustment was a success. Spent the rest of the afternoon, doing minor body word on my girlfriend's daughter's '97 Volvo. It had been in a minor accident. I told the daughter, I would help her repair it if she helped and paid for the parts. I could tell she didn't want to do it but she kept a good face and did a good job. By the way, I was very impressed with the color matching spray paint from paintscratch.com. (No affiliations). Friends and neighbors came over and we had a big BBQ/party on the deck.

Sunday, went on a long twisty mountain drive to northern NH with the girlfriend. We (she) purchased some daylillies (sp?) on the way. Sorry no photos.

Monday was spent doing handy man chores around the house, pre-tech'd the car for my next DE event, down at Lime Rock on Sept 20-21. Afterward, I washed the coupe, which I'm driving today. I need to schedule a PCA safety inspection of the car this week.

Overall, it was a great 5 days. It was tough getting up when the alarm went off this morning.

I hope everyone had a great weekend too.

Spent some quality with my Dad working on my house Sunday and Monday. We fixed some plumbing and drywall. I am now master of drywall repair.

On the pcar I got my calipers torn down, pistons out, taped and ready for paint. Unfortunately for now the house is taking precedence over the car.

Hawk's photos remind me I do understand the allure to a supercar. I will take my little 247hp deutsche go-kart any day.

Life with a baby: Wake up, make plans, then all of a sudden it's already 4PM... Why did time fly so fast?

I took Friday off as well, went up to the country house and spent a quiet weekend in the nice fall weather. Took the P-car several times on errand runs. It's such a blast. I even forgot to pick up our order of Chinese food on one of my runs, so I had to drive back. I loved it! Good thing it's all country and mountain roads.

I've been reading up on child seat installations (instead of "The Vaccine Book") and may have to put the roll bar away soon

I had a great trip up to Olympia with my son to check out the Harbor Days there. Its a collection of vintage harbor craft like tugboats and other wooden boats of all kinds. We got a ride on a steam powered packet/ferry boat which was completely restored. I have tons of pix of the tugs, steam engines etc. Boy's heaven... It was also a great day for shooting as the clouds were huge and expressive, and the light was stunning... Hawk, check these out... :-)

You will see an engine room on a tug that is for sale. This 8 cylinder diesel runs at a maximum 350 rpm! Talk about torque though.

$95K gets you a tug you can live on, in fully restored condition. Very tempting...

Monday was spent moving the in-laws' stuff into storage (pianos etc) as they have moved into an assisted living.

Rob, I also documented my Recaro seat install. I will have pix and a post soon.

Forget yachts, a tug would be an ultimate toy.
