They are regular seats. You are confused by the carpet addition in front of the seats. It most likely houses a subwoofer or some other crap.

That's the only thing I saw too. The seat pad looked a bit "raised" but the pad itself looked normal.

Looks odd to me, too.

Seems like someone built a "box" of sorts over the seat bottom and then re-installed the seat bottom pads. The box extends up to the back side of the center console.

My rear seat bottoms are like buckets. Not flat like that.

Hidden storage?

When my rear seat backs are dropped there is a good 2-3" of space between the seat back and the bottom. I've been storing a thick foam pad that the boys site on in there.

I am +1 on “houses a subwoofer or some other crap.”

Look at the jumbo amp in the front.

Default Bass

Yep, there's woofer(s) in there, small as they may be. I'm guessing 8" max.

It's an educated guess because I studied long and hard how to get bass in my system. (Now hold on Ilko, we know how you feel about sound systems but some of us like some tunes now and then and don't race so much!)

I wanted a larger than 8" woofer, so I removed the driver side rear seat bottom and built a custom box that fits down in the seat bottom recess. It extends out into the space behind the front seat and down to the floorboard to get enough volume for a 10" JL. The top of the box is constructed to match the seat back when it's folded down (it even has the lip) and the speaker faces upward. Covered the whole thing in vinyl and carpet to match the interior.

More than enough base for the small 911 cabin.

Yeah, that's a speaker enclosure.
athompson has one in his '91 Turbo that's even more offensive. I keep offering to rip it out for him. Dead weight, IMO.

Yea i went to a stereo store because i have an amp and 6 cd changer in the trunk. I want to rip all that crap out too because i never use it. But the stereo guy said i should not. Could my sony head be enough to power the speakers alone??? I only listen to AM radio on it anyhow.

Is anyone else wondering why the side of the seat is so worn for a 28k car?
