Default Mirror Removal???

Trying to replace the mirror gaskets but can't figure out how to disconnect the electrical connector. I've got aero mirrors. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Best way I've found to remove a mirror is a city council bus.

Use am allen key, it's 4mm or something similar. The bolt is located on the inside part of the mirror base, facing the door.

Thanks but I've actually got that part figured out.
What I can't figure out is how to disconnect the electrical connector that's attached to the door.

I'm sure I remember that the wiring for the mirror goes through the door, across to the A pillar to a connector on the inside of the trim in the footwell. I don't believe it's possible to disconnect at the mirror end without completely dismantling the mirror.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Dave

Dave,
Thanks but on my car there's a white cylindrical electrical connector that's snapped into the door under the mirror mount. I just can't figure out how to remove it.

I'm guessing that it's been fitted by a previous owner as I don't believe any sort of connector was standard there. Maybe you'll have to take the door card off to get access to the back side of it.

When the flag mirrors are removed for the purpose of fitting tear drops it seems that most people finish up cutting the wires so maybe your PO fitted the connector rather than just twist and solder!!

Dave,
If I'm not mistaken my car came stock with the teardrop/aero mirrors. It's a 1994 964.
Thanks,

Take a look at PET Page 414. There appear to be 2 connectors, one flat and one cylindrical, in the wiring that should pull apart.

Is there a link to access the PET?

Thanks for the link.
I'll post a pic of the connector later this evening.
