Agree with N51. Heatwave in Boston, gotta be 90+, yesterday the A/C in my 93 C2 kept me comfortable and my car is black.

Well gents i went and did it. I am very sadly saying au revoir to my glorious black 964. It took me weeks of mental deliberation and then a further 3 hours at the car dealers to make the momentous decision and believe me it was painful but felt like the right thing to do in the end. It was the weight difference and the 'C4' elements that enabled me to take the plunge and the fact that i can happily mod away at the 3.2 carrera without thinking i am butchering my pretty good spec/condition 964 and giving it a hard time on the track. The dealer also gave me a good deal which meant i got my 911 and cash back too
Yes i did find the 915 box a bit agricultural compared to the 964 but i will get used to it and improve it with new bushings and a short shift kit if necessary. It certainly wasnt as bad as i feared. The carrera felt and looked more nimble and lightweight than the 964, which is what i was hoping. I also found the steering refreshingly light despite the lack of p/steering.
Only time will tell if i have made the right decision and something tells me i will be back in a 964 C2 sometime in the future. But in the meantime i intend to have a lot of fun in the carrera.
Besides, this forum seems a bit more alive than the 911 one on rennlist

Sounds like you got a good deal. Although I hope you enjoy the experience, I'll take a guess that you'll get a yearning to start looking for a 964C2 after about 6 months

To non-Porschephiles 911s all look the same.
You knew what you wanted, more rawness, lighter weight, different steering/shifting feel. Good move!

I love my 964, but one day I would love to own a Rgruppe inspired long-hood ('73).
Think Wevo parts for the 915 trans

Anything 911 is good to me.

Well put Jetta

Other than deciding to get married this year, it has to be one of the toughest decisions ive ever made !

An awesome drive to work this morning down empty country B-roads full of S-bends being chased hard by an R1 motorbike (and him not keeping up!) did nothing to convince me i have made the right choice..D'oh. Of course the bike got past me on a decent straight but it was great fun upto that point ...bike and car sounded glorious at full chat, encased in a tree canopy. My cars final huzzah perhaps and it still looked fantastic in the company car park everytime i looked out the window

You may well be right with your prediction Steve, time will tell will take some find to get another decent low mileage 964 like that again in black and black...or white

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first day of owning it. I guess you got the one I think you were going to?

...and I'm sure you know that my prediction was only for fun but I WILL say 'I told you so' if it comes true!

No you misunderstood Steve, that was still in the 964 ! I am not getting the Carrera until saturday and yes i did get the one you guessed at, the previous owner is a friend of the dealer so hopefully i can trust it.
Got some 964 parts i may well want to sell soon, will pm when ready in case you know someone who may want them. Hope to see you on track someday soon and we can compare
